About This Class

Take your dancing to the next level

Cuban Salsa Level 2 is designed for dancers who have completed Level 1 or have equivalent foundational knowledge. This class builds upon the basics, introducing more complex footwork, turn patterns and lead-follow techniques. You’ll learn new figures and combinations that expand your repertoire while keeping the fun, social feel of the style.

A lovely part of Cuban Salsa (Casino) is how easily it shifts between dancing as a couple and dancing as a group. In Level 2 we blend both forms, using partner work to strengthen your foundation and Rueda to build confidence, timing, and the shared energy that makes dancing Cuban Salsa so enjoyable.

What You’ll Learn:

  • More intricate footwork variations to expand your movement vocabulary
  • Practical turn patterns and combinations for the social dance floor
  • Stronger partner connection and smoother transitions
  • Rhythm, timing, and musicality to help your dancing feel more expressive
  • How to join a Rueda confidently and follow the calls

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I join if I haven't taken Level 1?

Yes — if you’ve learnt Salsa elsewhere and feel confident with the basics, you’re welcome to join. If you’re not sure which level suits you, we’re happy to help you find the best fit.

When can I start?

You can start Level 2 at any time. Each 4-week block focuses on a family of moves of varying complexity, and if you're familiar with the foundations you'll be able to join in comfortably.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. For footwear, choose shoes with smooth non-stick soles that allow you to pivot easily and that remain secure on your foot (dance shoes, dress shoes, or clean street shoes work well). Avoid rubber-soled running shoes if you can. The venue is climate-controlled for comfort and we also recommend you bring a water bottle.

What if I miss a class?

The 4-week course is designed for regular attendance, but we understand things come up. Missed classes aren’t refunded or carried over, as the course price is already discounted to reward consistent participation. If your schedule varies, pay-as-you-go is a flexible option and still lets you join any week.

Do I need a partner?

No, you don't need to bring a partner. We rotate partners during class so everyone gets to practice with different people, which helps you develop stronger leading and following skills.

What is Rueda de Casino?

Rueda de Casino is the group version of Cuban Salsa, where dancers form a circle and follow calls that have everyone switching partners and moving together. It’s energetic, social, and a lot of fun.

In Level 2, you’ll find that many of the moves you learn can be linked into simple Rueda patterns. We occasionally introduce these transitions so you can experience how Casino works in a group format.

Is there a discount for doing multiple classes?

You can take Level 1 and Level 2 on the same night and receive a 50% discount on the second class. Many dancers use Level 1 as a warm-up to reinforce their fundamentals before Level 2. There’s also time for social practice between classes, so arriving a little early is a great way to make the most of it.
